Biography

Antonio Natale is born in Foggia (Italy) on May 13th, 1965 where he attends the Liceo Artistico and follows classes in Advertising, Poster and Fashion Design, while working as Advertising Designer and Press Illustrator for a popular newspaper in Puglia. In 1984, he moves to Rome to pursue his studies at the Accademia delle Belle Arti and graduates in 1988. During the span of these years, essential for his training, he studies Engraving at the Calcografia Nazionale of Rome while doing research on the History of Myths connected to the modus operandi of the Italian Artistic Movement “Nuova Maniera”. He also works as Interior Decorator.

After his graduation, Antonio travels across Europe and discovers the Northern Expressionists, the impact of whom will be fundamental to his Art. The following 9 years are dedicated to new projects as well as new experiments on divers supports such as City Maps and Post Stamps. He also extends his exhibitions across Europe and the world.

In 1997, Antonio starts painting on Out of Circulation Banknotes from the world over. He also starts an intense and epistolary rapport with Master Enrico Baj who introduces his artwork during his 2002 exhibition in Rome.

Since then, Antonio has exhibited his art around the world and has been recognized as “The Artist of Banknotes”, being the sole artist who paints exclusively on out of circulation banknotes. He has worked with many important NGOs and many famous people are in his collector family. He is also part of a few major Contemporary Art Foundations across the world. As of 2013, Antonio is also on exhibition in four major museums of the world, two of which are in the Middle-East.

In 2017, Antonio receives the ARGOS HIPPIUM Award, in recognition for his outstanding work in the International art scene, bringing honor and pride to his country.
Antonio Natale receives the 4th International Arts Awards – The Golden Palette 2020 in Lugano, in recognition of his outstanding achievements as an International Artist.

2021 is synonymous of more achievements for Antonio Natale, as he is awarded yet another prize, this time from Mellow Art Awards in Asia. He was chosen from 13’000 entries.

In July 2021 Antonio is featured on the cover of the prestigious luxury magazine Ozero Komo promoting the Italian excellence in Russia and around the world. In August, Antonio unveils a Classic Car bearing one of his paintings at the Concorso d’Eleganza Event in Lugano and holds a parallel exhibition event at the Municipio of Lugano. In September Antonio registers the Puma GTEon The Motorchain’s platform, using their blockchain technology as well as NFT, becoming the first artist in History to register an Art car in this manner.

In 2022 Antonio starts his collaboration with Wise.art, the Art platform of WiseKey SA to develop a new series of NFTs. He becomes the recipient of the Gold Award in the Art category of the Wise.art Excellence NFT Awards in Davos at the World Economic Forum in January 2023. This Gold winning NFT entitled “BITE ME N.04” is projected on the NASDAQ Tower in NYC (Times Square) in February 2023.

Today, Antonio Natale lives and works in Italy and Switzerland.
